Burglars hit Manor House Monday, more larcenies reported
web
posted August 19, 2009
EDGEFIELD – The former retirement home
Manor House on Highway 25 north just outside of Edgefield was the
target of burglars who made off with thousands of dollars worth of
equipment. The burglary was reported around 4 pm Monday and the
Edgefield County Sheriff’s Forensic Investigator spent hours on the
scene collecting evidence.
Among the property immediately known as missing included four
commercial air conditioning (HVAC) units, a refrigerator, a deep
freezer, a microwave and assorted other equipment.
No value was placed on the items, however, the commercial HVAC units
will cost upwards of $2,000 each to replace. A full inventory of the
building will be taken and a full list of stolen property will be
provided to investigators.
The Building is owned by Winyah Properties, an investment group from
Pawley’s Island, SC, the incident report stated.
Investigators expect the total value of equipment stolen to easily top
$10,000.
Two other thefts were reported on Monday with generators being stolen
from a home on the 1500 block of Stevens Creek Drive in Merriwether and
from a worksite on Rabbit Trail in Edgefield.
A red 6.5 horse power Chicago Generator Model 91523 was taken from
under a shed at the home on Stevens Creek Drive between Sunday and
Monday.
A worker on a jobsite at the corner of Rabbit Trail and Star Road
called the Sheriff’s Office just after 2 pm when he found the Husky
generator he was using gone. The worker told the reporting deputy that
he left the generator unattended for less than 30 minutes.
