Man arrested in assault Edgefielddaily.com web posted August 23, 2005 EDGEFIELD - Saturday morning officers were dispatched to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) due to a woman claiming to have been assaulted by a man. The woman was found to be “lying against the wall,” in the hall area of the LEC with a cut over her eye. Edgefield Police Officer Michael Butts inquired as to who was responsible for the injuries and the victim stated a known male invited her to stay at his home the night before and she accepted. The next moring around 6:00 am the man tried to force himself on her and she refused. While trying to leave the man was accused of grabbing her shirt and hair and dragged her back into the house. At that time police reports show the man hit the woman with an unknown object leaving her unconscious for several minutes. When she awoke the man had taken her belongings and placed them in the yard. The woman stated she again tried to leave the residence and was confronted by the man again. She stated she fell off the porch on the side as she avoided him and walked to the Sheriff’s Department. Officer Butts investigated and found blood on the door and porch of the home and also found several items used to smoke or use drugs in the home. Those items were placed as evidence and the man, Harrison Strom Jr., 54, was arrested for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
