Citizen News' Johnson receives heartfelt farewell

web posted August 24, 2007
Below: Frank Johnson (Center) enjoys stories of his time in Edgefield
EDGEFIELD – After coming to Edgefield County last year to become Editor of the Citizen News, Frank Johnson bid farewell to friends and coworkers at a gathering at the Park Row Market No. 1 in Edgefield. Mr. Johnson has accepted a position with the Goose Creek Gazette, a member of the Charleston Post Courier media family.

About two dozen staff and friends gathered to tell Mr. Johnson how much he will be missed as he quickly became a part of the community. Some offered gag gifts, cards, and balloons after the dinner was served.

Mr. Johnson said he enjoyed his time in Edgefield County and would “absolutely” be returning to the area from time to time.

Mr. Johnson said earlier that the opportunity for advancement won out over remaining in the county and being able to return to the Charleston – Mt. Pleasant area, his hometown, made the decision a little easier. He will be leaving the county today to assume his new position.

Editor’s note: As Editor of EdgefieldDaily.com, Frank and I worked closely together on a number of stories over the past year and quickly became friends. I look forward to continuing our friendship and getting together at South Carolina Gamecock football games and personal gatherings.

Congratulations on your advancement, Frank, I know you will continue to advance in a very promising career.
