High speed chase ends in crash in Edgefield Edgefielddaily.com web posted August 29, 2005 EDGEFIELD - A driver refusing to stop for officers was reported around 11:21 pm Saturday night as he drove over 80 MPH evading officers along the Highway 25 By-Pass. After turning down a side street other officers joined the pursuit. The Chrysler Sebring turned down several side streets back towards the Town of Edgefield as the chase continued. Shortly afterwards Edgefield Police Officers watched as the individual(s) “bailed out of the car” shortly before the car hit a tree. The car was stolen from North Augusta and had paper tags from the Andy Jones Mazda dealership. Aiken County sent a tow truck to retrieve the vehicle. It appears the culprits were apprehended however that is unconfirmed at this writing. Reports beyond that are unclear and Edgefield Daily.com will follow up with a more comprehensive report tomorrow.
