Arrest Made in Attempted Burglary

web posted August 29, 2012

EDGEFIELD – As Edgefield Daily reported last week, a Park Street woman called 911 to report someone trying to break into a home next door only to have the suspect she saw throw a chair at her and state he would "kill her" before running off. Edgefield Police continued their investigation which resulted in the arrest of Milledge Clarence Turner Jr., 34, of Plum Branch Road, on Monday for the crime.

After police obtaining the description of the suspect, the woman stated she would be able to identify him if she were to see him again. Investigators identified at least two possible suspects and request SLED provide photo line-up cards on both.

Those cards were taken to the victim two days later and she picked Turner out of the numerous photographs as the man she was accosted by when she discovered him trying to break into the home. A warrant was issued and Turned was arrested. He has been charged with attempted house breaking and assault and battery in the third degree.

He was released after posting a total of $3,000 in bonds. No trial date is available.
