California woman set to return to Edgefield to face felony charges
web
posted September 5, 2008
EDGEFIELD – A California woman charged
with an assortment of charges after allegedly drugging an Edgefield man
and stealing thousands of dollars worth of electronics and other items
from the man’s home as well as his car in May. Catherine Ann Brosemer,
49, is set to be released from the West Valley Detention Center in
California in the next ten days and she waived extradition.
Edgefield Police Chief Ronnie Carter said Thursday that the town is
using a professional transport company to bring Ms. Brosemer back to
Edgefield to face her day in court. She has been held at West Valley
since her arrest
there in June for probation violations.
Due to Ms. Brosemer fleeing back to California after the alleged crime
it is expected she will be held without bail once she is booked in to
the Edgefield County Detention Center.
According to police
reports at the time of the crime in early May, the male victim
began chatting with Brosemer and paid for a bus ticket for her to come
to see him. She arrived in Augusta and the two returned to the man’s
home in Edgefield. That Friday the man claims his houseguest had a lime
drink waiting on him when he returned home and became very sleepy a
short time later and went to sleep around 7 pm.
When he awoke on Saturday morning around 5:30 am the woman, her
suitcases, his Hyundai Santa Fe, $200 in cash from his wallet, pain
killers, Viagra, a laptop computer, a flat screen TV, clothes,
household goods, and other items totaling more than $15,000 were gone.
Transporting Brosemer back to Edgefield is expected to cost around
$3,000.
