  Child molester gets “time served” for second sexual assault web posted September 6, 2008  EDGEFIELD – On
Friday Circuit Court Judge
C. J. Nicholson released a now twice convicted child molester and
registered sex offender after serving just two years in the Edgefield
County
jail awaiting trial. Michael Lorenzo Washington, 32, of Johnston, was
not ordered to register as a sex offender because he is already
required to do so for his 1996 conviction on similar charges. In both
cases Washington’s victims were children under the age if 16, his most
recent victim was 8.“It’s just a matter of time before he does it again,” one court observer said Friday after the sentencing. Mr. Washington was arrested on a charge of a lewd act upon a minor under the age of 16 after allegations he molested an 8-year-old girl in early April of 2006. He was indicted on June 2 of the same year and was held until trial where he plead guilty to the charge. After sentencing Mr. Washington, Judge Nicholson seemed surprised that Mr. Washington was already a registered sex offender. ©
