Charges Continue to Mount for Jailed Couple

web posted September 10 2012

EDGEFIELD – A couple currently being held in Aiken County will see charges added in Aiken County, Edgefield as well as Richmond County in Georgia as the investigation of the break-in of an Edgefield home on Buncombe Street late August. AS property seized during the investigation was being processed a number of the items were found to be stolen, including a man's wedding band, checks, credit card, and store credits issued in other people's names and identifications.

Latasha Lynn McClain, 30, and Nicholas Avery Meyers, 31, were arrested after shoplifting at the Aiken Wal-Mart on Sunday, August 31, and have remained behind bars since.

Some of the stolen property was traced back to people in Aiken County and an antique found in the home was stolen from an antique store in downtown Augusta. All victims have stated they wanted to press charges. Edgefield Police has turned the information over to the authorities in their respective locations.

A man's wedding band, possibly white gold or titanium, with an inscription of "John and Heather" on the inside of the band was recovered in the property seized, but the owner has not been found at this time.

Edgefield Police have a hold placed on the couple with warrants for house breaking and malicious injury to personal property. An added charge of possession of stolen goods will be obtained. More charges are possible as the investigation continues, according to Edgefield Police.

Anyone with information on the wedding band should call the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office at 803-637-5337 or contact Edgefield Police Investigator Mark Pica at 803-480-2093.
