11th Circuit Judge Marc Westbrook killed in
crash in Edgefield County Edgefielddaily.com web posted September 14, 2005 3:08 pm BREAKING NEWS! EDGEFIELD - Around 1:30 pm on Wednesday afternoon 11th Circuit Judge Marc Westbrook, 58, was killed in a horrific crash in Edgefield County near the county line on Highway 378 and Highway 25. Judge Westbrook was traveling back from attending court in McCormick County when the crash happened. According to reports the car in which Judge Westbrook was in was broadsided by a tractor trailer at the intersection. Judge Westbrook’s clerk, Randy Davis who was driving the car, was airlifted via an AirMed helicopter to the MCG Trauma Unit and died a short time later. Edgefield County First Responders, EMS, and Northside Fire Department personnel worked for over half an hour removing Mr. Davis from the wreckage. Traffic was still being interrupted later in the afternoon. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident and said it would be tomorrow before they would be able to release any information as to who was at fault in the crash. Judge Westbrook had been an 11th Circuit Court Judge since March of 1994. Over the past twelve years on the bench was considered one of the most judicious in his rulings and one who could relate to the “common man”. The 11th Circuit Court covers Lexington, Saluda, Edgefield, and McCormick Counties. Edgefield Daily.com will follow up as more information becomes available.
