Report of suspicious person leads to arrest of wanted man web posted September 20, 2006 EDGEFIELD – Community activism paid off when Edgefield County dispatchers were notified of a suspicious man on Horne Creek West approaching homes with a gas can asking residents for gas. One resident called dispatchers to notify them that the man had approached her home and stating she turned the man away and asked that a deputy investigate the matter. When the deputies arrived the man was spotted sitting in a truck on the side of the road. When the deputy ran the license plate displayed on the truck it came back as a stolen tag. The investigator then found that Henry Clarence Mason, 42, of Stephens Road of North Augusta had outstanding warrants for his arrest. Mr. Mason was taken into custody and held on charges of petit larceny and no vehicle license. He is also wanted on outstanding warrants in Richmond and Columbia Counties for drug charges. He is currently being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center and will be turned over the Columbia County authorities at a later date. Edgefield County Investigators said Edgefield County also has an outstanding warrant for Mr. Mason but did not disclose the nature of the charge. For
