Scholastic
Clay Target Shooting Team Sign-up Meeting Scheduled
web
posted September 25, 2007
EDGEFIELD — More than 19 million Americans
safely participate in target shooting. If you’re one of these people
who enjoys shooting and loves the outdoors, and wants to pass on
these interests to your children, then make plans to attend the first
ever Edgefield County Scholastic Clay Target Shooting Team meeting to
find out how you can sign your child up.
An organizational meeting will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2, beginning at
6:30 p.m. at the Edgefield Town Hall. All interested individuals are
encouraged to attend and bring a friend!
The Edgefield County Scholastic Clay Target Team will provide
school-age participants in grades 6th-12th the opportunity to showcase
their competitive shooting skills and earn state and national
recognition.
The program is designed to instill in participants safe firearms
handling, commitment, responsibility, leadership and teamwork. In 2006,
SCTA had more than 10,000 students enrolled in the program.
The Scholastic Clay Target Program is a cooperative effort between the
National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the firearms industry's
largest and most diverse trade association with 3,000 members, and the
governing bodies for trapshooting, skeetshooting and sporting clays
shooting - the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA), the National
Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) and the National Sporting Clays
Association (NSCA), respectively.
For more information about the meeting, contact Dennis Borden at
803-480-2460. To learn more about the Scholastic Clay Target Program,
call 203-426-1320 or visit http://www.nssf.org.
