Prescott Confirms Write-In Candidacy for District 1 County Council Seat

web posted September 26, 2012

EDGEFIELD – In a telephone interview Tuesday night, Democrat George Prescott confirmed that he has mounted a write-in challenge to Democrat District 1 County Councilman Norman Dorn in the November elections. "There's nothing that Joe (Norman) Dorn is doing to help the district," Prescott, said. "You can't get anything done when you go to county council meetings and just run your mouth."

"The people (of the district) don't get anything by putting them (members of council and the public) down," Prescott said. "Something has to change." Prescott said that he does not vote for Councilman Dorn in elections.

Prescott began his campaign a few weeks ago and is relying on "word of mouth" advertising in his bid to replace Norman Dorn on the County Council. "I'm not buying signs or anything," Prescott said.

This places the race into a three-way choice for voters. With Prescott now in the race, the votes will be split between Democrat Norman Dorn, Petition (Independent) candidate William "Bill" Smith, and Prescott.
