Quick Response Saves Edgefield Home from Fire

web posted September 28, 2012

EDGEFIELD – Quick response from the Edgefield Fire Department was able to save a fire from spreading in a Mims Street home Thursday just after noon. The fire was called in to 911 around 12:30 and Edgefield firefighters were on the scene within minutes. The fire was located in the kitchen and was described as a "stove fire", which was quickly extinguished by the use of a fire extinguisher before a hose could be pulled off the fire truck.

Firefighters remained on the scene to make sure there were no smoldering embers as a result of the fire and used box fans to clear the smoke from the residence. They remained on the scene a little over an hour.

The fire caused minimal damage to the home, according to information provided on the scene.
