web
posted September 30, 2008
EDGEFIELD – A weekend party on Macedonia
Street led to one arrest and the discovery of drugs and a pistol before
the party was closed down by Edgefield Police. Edgefield Police
conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was on Augusta Road shortly
before 1 am Saturday morning. When officers approached the vehicle they
were met by a “strong odor of marijuana” coming from inside the car.
Officers asked the driver and passengers if they had been smoking
marijuana and all said they had not and stated they had just left a
party on Macedonia Street where other has been partaking of the illicit
drug in their presence.
After asking for consent to search the vehicle the driver, 18-year-old
Stewart Kevin Bibbs, of Rainbow Falls Road, was found to be in
possession of what is believed to be marijuana. He was arrested and
transported to the Edgefield County Detention Center for booking.
When Edgefield Police arrived at the location of the party on Macedonia
Street thye observed a group of youths standing in the parking lot of
the party. When officer’s approached they left the area.
As Officers began searching the location they found a “baggie” of
several smaller bags of marijuana laying on the ground and a .25
caliber pistol nearby.
Unable to determine who disposed of the gun and drugs Edgefield Police
closed the party down and made those present leave the area.
