Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church first Youth Service on the Square Draws Over 140

By Gladys Mason
web posted October 2, 2012

EDGEFIELD – The Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church held their very first Youth Service on the Square at the Edgefield Town Square on Sunday September 29th. The event began with Sunday School Services and continued on into Devotional and Worship Services. Church members and fellow church goers sang hymns and read scriptures. Ironically, the first song was “It’s Going to Rain”.

Thankfully, it didn’t and the event continued to go as planned.

Minister Scotty Burton blessed the event with the Opening Prayer. The Mt. Olive Children’s Church were “in charge” of the program for that evening. They welcomed everyone to the event, read scriptures and also participated in prayer.

The Christ Crusaders Mime Group, which consists of two young men, Michael Scott (15) and Benjamin Curry (12) were also included in the program.

The program came to a close with the sermon which was delivered by Mt. Olive’s pastor, Rev. Rodney Edmond. One attendee stated “I was on my way to get something to eat, but then I saw y’all were having service, so I came by and I’m glad I did.”

There were at least 140 people in attendance.
