Heritage Jubilee starts Friday

EDGEFIELD – The 2007 Edgefield Heritage
Jubilee will begin tomorrow and run through Saturday with fun, food,
entertainment, vendors, and a sanctioned BBQ cook-off. The activities
kick off on Friday at 5 pm with crafts, children’s amusement, rides,
and food vendors and the night will be capped off with a free Street
Dance from 7 -11 pm with live music from the band “The Swamp Critters”.
An all night Confederate Encampment will be taking place along with the
Whole Hog BBQ Competition that will be judged on Saturday.
The festivities will begin again on Saturday with amusement rides,
crafts, vendors, and other activities from 9 am until 5 pm. From 9 am
until 2 pm will find the Antique Car and Tractor Shows and competition.
The Edgefield Fire Department will be having Fire Engine rides
beginning at 10 am as Bingo kicks off until noon.
Other events planned for Saturday include:
Tours of the Oakley Park Museum at 10 am, noon, 2 and 4 pm at a cost of
$5
Live entertainment including Drive Train (10 am -1 pm)
Brooker Strom and Ashley Byrd (1 - 2 pm)
Solid Ground (2 - 5 pm)
Sales from the BBQ Competition will be available beginning at 10:30 am
at a cost of $8 a plate.
Parking will be made available with the closing of Highway 25
northbound beginning at Youngblood Road and continuing with the closing
of Columbia Road eastbound lanes. Detour routes will be marked and a
map provided may be found here.
