  Gunfire erupts at party web posted October 6, 2008 EDGEFIELD – As the Friday night events at the Heritage Festival were coming to an end, partygoers on Macedonia Street found gunfire erupting at the “Center” bringing Edgefield Police and Sheriff’s Deputies racing to the scene around 11:55 pm. Two men were said to have gotten into an argument when one man pulled a pistol and began firing at the other. According to Edgefield Police, the man with the pistol emptied all the rouinds in the gun, never hitting his intended target, and then threw the gun at the man before fleeing as police approached. The victim also fled the scene. As officers searched the area for witnesses they also began looking for the gun used in the shooting. According to Edgefield Police Chief Ronnie Carter it is believed a third subject picked up the gun off the ground and fled before police arrived. Deputies began patrolling the surrounding area in an effort to locate the men involved but were unsuccessful. Edgefield Police are still investigating the incident. ©
