Young hunter bags first buck with first shot on first hunt

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted October 18, 2005

EDGEFIELD – Noah Ireland, 8, went on his first deer hunt and bagged a four point buck with his first and only shot fired while hunting. Noah, and his proud father Edgefield County Sheriff’s Investigator Phil Ireland, went on their first official deer hunt and we were unsure who was more proud, Noah or dad.

Mr. Ireland said when the deer came into view Noah began to get “buck fever”, “He started breathing real heavy, I told him to take it easy and raise the rifle,” he said. Giving him step by step pointers Noah took careful aim then fired his .270 rifle and dropped the deer in its track from a distance of 45 yards. “He put it right in the neck,” the proud father said. The father and son team were hunting property located behind thier home. The deer weighed in at 150 pounds.
