Edgefield woman held on attempted murder charge

web posted October 24, 2006
EDGEFIELD – An Edgefield woman is in jail after a stabbing Friday night that occurred on the 200 block of Gary Street. Just before 8 pm Friday Edgefield Police were called to Gary Street home after a woman called to report the stabbing and the victim bleeding “all over the place”. When officers arrived the man had a large gaping wound to his left side and EMS was summoned to the scene.

According to police reports the woman told officers the man called her a name so she reached into a drawer and pulled out a razor knife and cut him. Officers took Wilhemina Kinard, 39, of Gary Street into custody at the scene after she admitted to the attack.

EMS arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of the wound which was reportedly severe.

Ms. Kinard is currently being held on a custody order awaiting formal charges of assault and battery with the intent to kill, South Carolina’s equivalent to attempted murder. She remained in custody on Monday night jail records show.

No further information was available on the condition of the male victim.
