  Edgefield Police give early halloween candy bags to children web posted October 25, 2006  EDGEFIELD
– The Edgefield Police Department went to W. E. Parker Elementary to
hand out bags of Halloween candy and stickers to all 520 students.
Chief Carter, assisted by Lt. Mike Cockrell, Officers James Desmore and
Virginia Bledsoe, personally handed each child a bag of goodies as they
exited the lunchroom.Chief Carter said his department also delivers the bags to all of the childcare facilities in the Town of Edgefield as well. “We spend about $400 on the bags,” Chief Carter said. That money comes out of the Police Department budget. The Town of Edgefield also presents local children with Halloween candy bags on Halloween. The Edgefield Police Department is also going to be at Strom Thurmond next week with a golf cart and “drunk goggles” to let students try to drive an obstacle course as a simulated intoxicated driver. The programs are a part of Red Ribbon week on Drug Awareness. For
