“Heritage Holidays” Events Start This Week

web posted November 17, 2008
EDGEFIELD – This Thursday, November 20th the merchants of Edgefield will hold a Holiday Open House from 4pm to 8pm. Come and get a head start on your holiday shopping with big sales and holiday refreshments.

Many of the businesses will have special treats for shoppers.  Still Magnolia’s will host visits with Santa from 6pm until 8pm.  Bring your camera for a quick photo op!  Jane Bess of Jane Bess Pottery will offer new items each week of this holiday season.  So, check by her store to see what’s new or to commission a personal piece of pottery.

Take a break during the Merchant Holiday Open House to watch the Christmas tree lighting on the square at 6pm.  God’s Little Angels from the Edgefield First Baptist Church will sing at the lighting ceremony.

Stop by the square on Saturday, November 22nd between 9am and 2pm for the Holiday Market.  The square will be full of vendors selling holiday decorations, soaps, jewelry, ornaments, baked goods, handbags, pottery, fresh green wreaths and more.  There will also be a cake walk during the market with proceeds benefiting the local Food Bank.  In case of inclement weather, the Holiday Market will relocate to the Rocky Shop at 203 Main Street.

Additional “Heritage Holidays” events to keep in mind:
•    Friday, November 28th – Biggest Shopping Day of the Year – Edgefield merchants will be open from 9am to 7pm.
•    Sunday, December 7th – Holiday Celebration – Edgefield Christmas parade at 4pm and visit with Santa at the Discovery Center from 5pm to 6:30pm.
