Tips
lead to recovery of stolen tanks
web
posted November 22, 2007
EDGEFIELD – Edgefield County Sheriff’s
Chief Investigator Randy Doran said Wednesday that the four stainless
steel tanks stolen over the weekend from Trenton have now been
recovered thanks to tips from the public. The tanks were found on Deans
Bridge Road in Augusta Georgia behind a car lot. No arrests have been
made in the case and the investigation is ongoing.
Inv. Doran said one of the tanks had already cut into pieces and a
second tank was in the process of being dismantled. “We made contact
with the owner and he is making arrangements to take the tanks back to
Trenton,” Doran said.
The tip that led to the location of the stolen tanks came in after
someone contacted the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office to say they
noticed the tanks after seeing the story air on one of the Augusta
television news broadcasts that picked up EdgefieldDaily.com’s
report.
Once the location of the tanks was verified the Richmond County
Sheriff’s Office was alerted and assisted in the investigation.
According to preliminary information the men in possession of the tanks
indicated they purchased the tanks in “good faith” from another source
Corporal Robbie Harter said.
EdgefieldDaily.com will continue to follow the investigation to its
conclusion.
