![]() Edgefield ready for parade, activities, and shoppers web posted November 28, 2006 EDGEFIELD – The Town of Edgefield will sparkle once again this weekend with a special focus - children. A children’s celebration will be held throughout the town on Saturday, December 2nd to include the annual Christmas Parade, Santa, caroling, refreshments, and activities. Beginning at 1:00 pm the annual Town of Edgefield Christmas Parade will wind its way through the downtown area with Santa as the finale. Children and parents alike will delight in the floats, clubs marching, and candy being distributed. Immediately following the parade the children of God’s Little Angels pre-school will line the courthouse steps to carol in the holiday season. Sandy Williams, God’s Little Angels Teacher, enthusiastically shares, “The children have been practicing for weeks and are very excited about singing this weekend! They will be precious in their hand painted sweatshirts.” Santa Claus will head to the Discovery Center following the parade where children and adults will be able to have their photo taken with Santa and share with him their wishes for this holiday season. Santa will be available from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. The Discovery Center will also offer refreshments, children’s crafts, and face painting throughout the day. All across the downtown area merchants will participate in the holiday celebration with activities and refreshments for the children. Visitors and local participants are encouraged to stroll through the businesses district in the downtown during the day for many surprises. Area merchants downtown are participating in a locally driven toy drive to benefit the children of Edgefield County. Promoters are encouraging residents to bring in an unwrapped new gift for children of all ages. Sharon Nunamaker, of Still Magnolia’s, looks forward to sharing bags of specially popped popcorn with the children visiting her store in the Piazza on Jeter Street. Mrs. Nunamaker said, “The merchants have come together this year in an effort to showcase what we are all so proud of in Edgefield…this Saturday we want the children to celebrate the holiday season with crafts, activities, refreshments, and even Santa!” For more information you may call (803) 637-1237.
