Two arrested in crash after leaving Edgefield hospital
web
posted November 28, 2008
JOHNSTON – A man accused of crashing into
Patsy’s Place in Johnston has been taken into custody after leaving the
Edgefield County Hospital shortly after the wrecked car he was said to
be driving was found abandoned around midnight Thursday - allegedly
causing over $10,000 in damages after crashing into the facility -
which also led to the arrest of a woman when she came to offer aid,
police said.
Curtis Felder, 47, was being held on a custody order for charges of too
fast for conditions, leaving the scene of an accident with property
damage, and possible other charges shortly after leaving the Edgefield
County Hospital, Johnston Police said Thursday night.
Farah Lowman, 46, was also arrested by Edgefield Police on possible
charges of a seatbelt violation, child endangerment, no drivers
license, and a possible DUI while retrieving Felder from the hospital
after the crash.
After blood was discovered in the wrecked Ford Focus Felder was accused
of driving at the time of the crash at the Daycare, area hospitals were
put on notice to alert law enforcement of anyone being admitted with
injuries leading to their first tip in the case.
Edgefield and Johnston Police worked together in order to solve the
incident and a small child in the care of Ms. Lowman after her arrest
was turned over to a family member prior to her vehicle being towed
from the scene, officials said.
The charges were only “preliminary” and are not official until warrants
could be issued in the cases.
