Weather to co-operate with Christmas Parade Saturday morning in Edgefield
web posted November 30, 2005

EDGEFIELD – The weather will co-operate with the Edgefield Christmas Parade Saturday morning as temperatures will hover in the seasonable 40’s as the event kicks off with mainly clear skies. The time of the start of the parade has been changed to 11:00 am to accommodate local football fans heading to the Strom Thurmond State AAA Championship game at Williams Brice Stadium in Columbia at 8:00 pm.

Those attending the parade are advised to wear layered clothing as temperatures will rise to the mid 60’s by early afternoon. Original plans for the parade were set for 4:30 pm Saturday until the STH football team won the Lower State Championship last week advancing them into the Championship game for the state title on Saturday and time changes were announced.

Michael Medlock, chairman of the parade, said he hoped the change of time would allow everyone to enjoy the parade and the game. “Hopefully, everyone can come out and enjoy the parade before heading to Columbia for the big game,” he said in a prepared statement.

The parade will also feature the Headquarter Company of the 122nd Engineering Battalion of the South Carolina National Guard from Edgefield as Grand Marshalls of the parade.
