Santa arrives in Edgefield during Christmas Parade

Grand Marshalls Sam Crouch Sr. and Charlie Mathis (L and R)
web posted December 3, 2007
EDGEFIELD – The Town of Edgefield hosted their annual Christmas Parade Saturday at 4 pm and with over seventy entries this year. Sam Crouch Sr. and Charlie Mathis were this year’s Grand Marshals and took center stage at the view stand on the corner of the Town Square. Jane Herlong and Calvin Henderson were the emcees for the parade and kept the crowds entertained with their commentary of the passing floats.

As each entry passed the children were scampering to collect the candy and goodies tossed by the participants.

When the near hour-long parade drew to close local children began jumping up and down in excitement when they saw Santa Claus atop one of Edgefield’s Fire Trucks. “It’s Santa,” one young lad exclaimed as he grabbed his friend by the shoulders, “it’s really him!” Santa waved and threw the most prized candy of the parade.

After the parade there was a special performance by the Suzuki Strings of Augusta and Edgefield’s own God’s Little Angels on the courthouse steps followed by the lighting of the town’s Christmas Tree.

EdgefieldDaily.com took almost 100 photographs featuring at least one of every participating entry of the parade. To obtain a copy of all photos taken please email the Editor at editor@edgefielddaily.com for more details.
