![]() Mayor's Annual Holiday Decorating Contest announced web posted December 4, 2006 EDGEFIELD - The time is upon us! Houses are being lit with thousands of white and colored lights, stockings hung by chimneys, and wishes of children everywhere are being shared with Santa. One thing is for sure in that Edgefield is glowing like never before! Residents of Edgefield are encouraged to dress their homes this season for the first ANNUAL Mayor’s Holiday Decorating Contest. Judges from throughout the CSRA will arrive in Edgefield on Tuesday, December 12th to decide the winner of the first year’s award. All homes interested in participating should have the exterior of their homes ready for judging by 6:00 pm. Judges for the 2007 season include the owners and editors of Easy Street Magazine, Chris and Thom Abbott, Aiken Standard features writer, Tony Baughman, and Adam Clark, News Channel 12 Meteorologist. The judges will determine this year’s winner based upon the spirit of the season. All homes within the town limits of Edgefield will be eligible for judging. Enthusiastic homeowners interested in participating in this year’s contest are asked to call (803) 637-0877 and leave your name, address and phone number. You may also email this information to edgefielddc@scprt.com. A one of a kind piece of pottery has been designed and fired by Ed Redmon, apprentice to Edgefield Potter Steven Ferrell. The pottery, designed in the Old Edgefield tradition, features an image of the palmetto tree. On top of the pottery prize, the winner also receives bragging rights for an entire year! Upon the completion of judging, the announcement of the winners will be made in front of Edgefield Town Hall at 7:00 pm. The media and residents are invited to share in the celebration of the season at this brief announcement ceremony. Mayor Ken Durham will be on hand to announce the winners.
