 Dodge’s Store target of Armed Robbery web posted December 8, 2008 EDGEFIELD – An armed robbery disrupted what was supposed to be a peaceful night after the Edgefield Christmas Parade when a 911 call came in around 10:24 pm reporting an armed gunman entering the Dodge’s Store on Augusta Road and making off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The masked gunman was described as being a black male in his early 20's between 5’3” and 5’4” weighing around 150 pounds wearing a white shirt with a white shirt used as a mask. Edgefield Police along with Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators arrived on the scene within minutes. The Sheriff’s Bloodhound Team was also called to the crime scene as well as the Sheriff’s Forensic Investigator to process the scene. Investigators were in the process of obtaining video surveillance footage recorded during the robbery. Investigators had a preliminary suspect, though his name was not officially released. According to information obtained the suspect jumped the counter and held the clerk as he stole cash from the register. Bloodhounds tracked the suspect to the nearby area where he was believed to have escaped in an unknown make and model vehicle. According to early reports, some of the cash stolen during the crime was left littering the floor of the store. The money was being processed for fingerprints and a suspect has been questioned in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office at 803-637-5337.
