Three car crash stalls school traffic Tuesday
web
posted December 10, 2008
EDGEFIELD – A three
vehicle crash tied up
school traffic on Columbia Road for about an hour Tuesday afternoon
when three carloads of Strom Thurmond students ran into each other,
literally. According to information obtained at the scene the driver of
a Toyota Camry was slowing causing the driver of a following Chevrolet
Cavalier to begin to brake. A third driver in a Ford F150 pickup then
slammed into the read of the second car driving it into the first.
None of the drivers
or the four passengers of the three vehicles were
injured but each was checked by EMS at the scene.
The crash closed one lane of Columbia Road for an hour as the Highway
Patrol investigated the collisions. The driver of the Cavalier told the
Trooper that he came to a stop before being struck by the truck,
forcing him into the Camry.
The Cavalier was the only vehicle that required being towed from the
scene as it sustained heavy damage in the crash. The truck had minor
damage to the front end and the Camry had moderate damage to its rear.
