Road Rage at the Drive-Thru?

web posted December 17, 2013

EDGEFIELD Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a fight in progress in the Drive-thru at McDonalds in Edgefield Sunday around 12:44 pm between a man and a woman. McDonald employees who witnessed the fight ran outside to pull the man off the woman as he was hitting her. Deputies arrived moments later and took Theodore Kohl, 58, of Johnston into custody at the scene.

According to the victim, she was in line at the drive-thru when Kohl began honking his horn and "giving her the middle finger". She told the deputy that Kohl was "yelling nigger" as well as cursing. At one point she got out of her car, leaving the children inside, to ask Kohl what his problem was. At that point Kohl is accused of hitting the woman in the face, "with his fist."

The 31-year-old woman suffered injuries to her face and arm in the attack, an incident report states. EMS was called to the scene but she was not transported for treatment.

Kohl was arrested and charged with assault and battery in the third degree and disorderly conduct as a result of the incident. His car was towed from the scene. He was later released on a total of $1,372 in surety bonds.

No court date was available.
