Farm Service Agency Director Retires
web
posted December 19, 2008
EDGEFIELD – Mable G
Robertson will retire
December 31 after 28 years service with the Farm Service Agency.
Robertson began her career in 1981 as a Program Technician in the
Saluda ASCS office under County Director George Sawyer. She
worked in that position until 1995 when Sawyer retired. After
training in Florence, Anderson, Calhoun, York and Newberry counties,
she was hired as County Executive Director for Saluda County.
January 1998 she was hired as County Executive Director for the
Edgefield Farm Service Agency in a shared management situation, where
she divided her time managing both the Edgefield and Saluda FSA
offices. She continued this arrangement from 1998 until her
retirement.
Robertson’s career has taken her to Washington, Virginia, Tennessee,
Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma and many within state
locations. She was one of four individuals in the state selected
to train new employees in counter skills. Robertson was one of
the first employees from South Carolina to participate in the testing
of new computer software in Washington, DC and Kansas City.
As Edgefield CED, she and her staff received the 2007 National Civil
Rights Award for the first ever Black History Program. She is
past State President for the employee organization, SCASCOE. She
received the 1997 Woman of Accomplishment State Award for the Business
& Professional Women’s Club.
She says she has had a very rewarding career and will miss the many
friends she has made. She expresses her appreciation to the
Saluda and Edgefield County Committees, staff and farmers for their
support. She looks forward to having time to spend with family
and for traveling.
