Couple
sets example in giving each month, not just Christmas
web posted December 23, 2005 EDGEFIELD – Charlie and Pat Wilson want to give back to the community this Christmas, just as they have been doing for the past five months with a 5,000 pound vegetable and bread ministry which will be held again on January 7, 2006 at 140 W. A. Reel Drive Room 191 in Edgefield from 9:30 am until 11:30 am. “We want everyone to come by and see us. It is a blessing to see the smiles on people’s faces,” Pat Wilson said. “We call it ‘Mama’s Truck.’” Each month Charlie and Pat Wilson, on behalf of Alpha & Omega Ministries provides a truck load of fresh vegetables and bread to needy families in the Beaver Dam Creek Community. However their ministry goes beyond Edgefield, Mrs. Wilson explained. “Once we leave Edgefield we go to our location in Johnston at 257 Lanier Road,” where they hand out the remaining food. Charlie and Pat Wilson have been in Edgefield County for the last eight years after coming to the area from Boston, “My family is from here so we decided to come back here,” Mrs. Wilson said, “We were called.” The Wilson’s would like to see others get involved in sponsoring a “Mama’s Truck”, “the cost of a truck is $500 so we are looking for donations to help us add more trucks,” Mrs. Wilson said. She and her husband pay for the present food on their own. Volunteers are also needed to help hand out the food. Those wishing to volunteer should contact Pat Wilson at 803-275-4322 of 803-336-8088 or just show up at 140 W.A. Reel Drive before 9:30 am. Mrs. Wilson said they also need people to donate plastic grocery bags You may also e-mail Mrs. Wilson at queenp510@bellsouth.net For
