Edgefield Police in high speed pursuit Saturday morning
web posted December 24, 2005

EDGEFIELD – Edgefield Police attempted a traffic stop around 10:00 am Saturday on Jeter Street when the driver decided to take off rather than turn off his car when asked by Officer James Densmore. Afterwards the pursuit became a high speed chase winding through Edgefield and the northside.

The car turned up Walker Street and then took a right on Plumb Branch with Edgefield Police in tow. Edgefield County Deputies also responded to the call as did the South Carolina Highway Patrol at that time. The car then turned north on Highway 25 heading towards Greenwood.

As Greenwood County Deputies were alerted the man then turned left on Gilgal Road and sped towards Winns Way. The car seemed to be circling back towards Morgan Bussey Road when Edgefield Chief of Police Ronnie Carter radioed officers to terminate the pursuit at 10:22 am.

The tag number on the car belonged to a man who lives on Morgan Bussey Road. We will have an update as more information becomes available.
