Another Edgefield County son heads to Iraq
web
posted December 28, 2007
EDGEFIELD – Pvt. 1st
Class Zeb Blackledge
was home for Christmas and met with EdgefieldDaily.com in Edgefield on
Thursday just before heading to Atlanta to fly out and begin his tour
of duty in Iraq. Pvt. Blackledge was the
focus of a August report when
he also made national news after North Dakota Rep. Earl Pomeroy gave up
his seat on a flight to Blackledge.
Pvt. Blackledge was with his mother and father, Nora and Kenneth
Korreck of Edgefield, (Pictured above) who were accompanying him on his
trip to Atlanta.
“I will be in Iraq for a year,” Blackledge said adding that he has
always kept up with the happenings “back home” by reading
EdgefieldDaily.com. “I read it every day.”
Pvt. Blackledge, a former Strom Thurmond student, said he wanted to
provide his email address so he could receive messages from friends
here in Edgefield County. His email address is
zebadiah.blackledge@us.army.mil
EdgefieldDaily.com thanked Pvt. Blackledge for his service to our
country and wished him well and for his speedy and safe return. Pvt.
Blackledge said he hoped to return before his tour of duty was over for
a short visit.
