![]() Assault with knife results in no charges web posted December 29, 2006 EDGEFIELD – Sometimes you just have to wonder about things that happen and the people involved. Such was the case on Christmas evening around 7pm. Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Eastview Road due to a report of a man being assaulted with a knife. The suspect believed to have cut the man was last seen heading towards Edgefield in a blue F-150 Ford truck. Edgefield Police saw the truck on Main Street and began following it as it continued through town. Once the truck was identified as the suspect vehicle Edgefield Police conducted a traffic stop on McCary Street. Once the truck stopped a woman got out of the passenger side and the officer asked if she had been on Eastview Road. The woman, according to police reports, stated she just left from the area. The driver of the truck began to pull away when a second Edgefield Officer arrived and stopped the truck from leaving. The 37 year old woman told the officer she cut the man on Eastview Road but it was because he, “came at me” and that the knife was in the truck. The driver of the truck, who said he only gave the woman a ride from Eastview Road, allowed the officers to look in the console where they found two knives. One a kitchen knife approximately 11 inches long and the second a folding 6-inch knife. The woman said she did not remember which knife she used to cut the 26-year-old Edgefield man. A short time later the victim arrived at the location of the traffic stop and said he did not want to press charges on the woman. EMS was called to the scene to treat the man for the cut to his arm but refused to be transported for further treatment. When Sheriff’s Deputies arrived the knives were turned over to them and after questioning several people released the woman due to the victim’s unwillingness to file charges. The incident expended several man-hours combine between Edgefield Police, Sheriff’s Deputies, and EMS personnel. For
