Reward for suspected shooter reaches $1000

web posted December 31, 2009
EDGEFIELD – The reward for a man wanted in connection to two shooting incidents this year has increased to $1,000, the Edgefield Police Department released on Wednesday. Edward Fargo McKenzie, 24, of Johnston, is wanted for two counts of assault and battery with the intent to kill and numerous other charges.

McKenzie is wanted for a shooting at the Edgewood Apartments on August 15 in an armed robbery that left the victim critically injured.

Johnston Police also has warrants for McKenzie’s arrest that stem from a shooting at the May Street Apartments on August 13. No one was injured in that incident.

In October of 2008 he was arrested by the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office in connection to an early morning armed robbery that took place in Trenton in late July. McKenzie and four others, including a juvenile, were charged in the robbery and are awaiting trial. McKenzie is currently out on bond from that incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Dispatch at 803-637-5337 or 803-278-1625. Only information leading to the arrest of McKenzie is eligible for the reward.

The Edgefield Police Department increased their reward from $200 to $400 and the Georgia Carolina Bond Company issued a $500 reward. EdgefieldDaily.com has offered $100 to the reward for a total of $1,000.

Wanted: Armed and Dangerous
