Edgefield, SC 29824 Phone 803-637-3222 Dining Review Team We arrived promptly at 7:00 pm and were met immediately by the hostess. After informing her we had no reservation, which is not required though recommended, we were seated promptly at a table for two in one of the four main dining areas, each with their own individual character. Our waitress, Jessica, was at our table within two minutes of being seated and explained the nightly specials and took our beverage order. We did not wait to order as we had reviewed the menus prior to arriving. We started with an appetizer of Cajun Popcorn Crawfish. One stayed to the menu items and chose the Seaford Jambalaya, the other however chose one of the nightly specials which Jessica recommended; a bed of mashed potatoes covered with asparagus and topped with halibut. Within seven minutes of being seated our beverages were served along with our appetizer and warm bread with seasoned butter. The crawfish were perfect; the accompanying sauce was full of Cajun flavors that were deliciously complimentary. Jessica tended to our table frequently refilling our beverages and removing empty plates. Our entrees were served thirty-seven minutes into our evening. The halibut was indeed worth recommending; a perfectly cooked think filet flaky and moist. The combinations of flavors in the entrée were a wonderful blend that rounded out a superb offering. The Seafood Jambalaya, including shrimp and crawfish, had just the right amount of spices and a colorful presentation. The shrimp and crawfish were not deeply embedded with the juices which allowed them to retain the wonderful sweet flavor of the seafood. The chives and assorted ingredients were firm and intermingled with the seafood to make the entire serving appealing and filling. Our experience at the Old Edgefield Grill was delightful, elegant, and ranks among one of the most outstanding fine dining restaurants our county has to offer. None of our featured dining choices are notified of our presence. We arrived one hour after opening for dinner so not to be one of the first to arrive to gauge wait times. Business was moderate at the Old Edgefield Grill. Other than two small errors throughout the dining, attention to detail was admirable. Cost for two: Beverages and Appetizer, $16.00; Halibut, $23.00; Seafood Jambalaya, $17.00. Total bill with tax $58.83 before gratuity. Time: Total time in relaxed dining; 1 hour 15 minutes. Zero waiting time for seating. Alcohol: Moderate wine list, cocktails, champagne Manager/ Executive Chef: Sean Alexander Wright Advantages: Wonderful old southern ambience, friendly attentive service, true southern elegance in casual setting Disadvantages: Parking is limited but comfortable walking distance from the Town Square On the web: Old Edgefield Grill (site not online) Return to
