Obamacare: HR 3200 - What it really says and what it really will do
web
posted August 17, 2009
EDITORIAL – As the August recess of
Congressional members’ Town Hall meetings become more and more
turbulent, Democrat members are calling those who oppose HR 3200,
‘‘America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009”, Nazi’s, Brown
Shirts, Un-American, Right-Wing Extremists, and yes, even racist. The
Obama Administration says the outpouring of public anger is not
representative of the public at large. Furthermore, President Obama and
the Democrats try to deflect members of the public as being
“uninformed” while it is they - the supposed “authors" of the Bill -
who
admit repeatedly to having not read the bill. Dr. John Davis Lewis and
others have and what they found should scare every single American like
nothing before.
According to a review
of portions of the Bill, Dr. Lewis has discovered the things
President Obama and the Democrats have been attacking as “lies”,
distortions”, “misleading”, and as “not being in the Bill” are actually
true and in the Bill those pushing the plan have not read, admittedly.
Dr. Lewis states in his introduction to the review, “We may answer one
question up front: How will the government will pay for all this?
Higher taxes, more borrowing, printing money, cutting payments, or
rationing services—there are no other options. We will all pay
for this, enrolled in the government “option” or not.”
On Rationing Healthcare: The Bill clearly states that readmission to a
hospital will be decided by the Secretary and the government, whose
decision is not reviewable by administration of judicial means. The
government will use “statistics” not individual situations of the
patient as deemed necessary by your, or if passed, their doctor as an
“applicable [medical] condition.” Pages 284-288, SEC. 1151 and
317-318. There can be no judicial review of decisions made here. The
Secretary is above the courts.
Those who “opt out” of the government run healthcare will pay a tax,
above and beyond the cost of their private insurance, for not being a
part of the government run healthcare plan. A tax (estimated at $2,500
per insured) for not relinquishing your freedom on healthcare choices
each year you refuse to do so. The Bill does not make having your own
insurance illegal necessarily; however it taxes you for making a choice
contrary to the will of the federal government. It does make it illegal
to choose the type of insurance you will be allowed to buy.
Those who choose to “pay as you go” for routine medical checkups, minor
illnesses and injuries, and have insurance to cover “catastrophic”
conditions, will have to cancel their insurance and Health Savings
Accounts because such insurance and accounts will be outlawed.
According to the Bill, if you lose your current insurance you are
forced into the “government option” without a choice.
To further destroy the private insurance companies, Dr. Lewis shows how
small businesses—with say 8-10 employees—will either have to provide
insurance to federal standards, or pay an 8% payroll tax. “Business
costs for health care are higher than this, especially considering
administrative costs. Any competitive business that tries to stay with
a private plan will face a payroll disadvantage against competitors who
go with the government “option.” The pressure for business owners to
terminate the private plans will be enormous. With employers ending
plans, millions of Americans will lose their private coverage, and
fewer companies will offer it. The Commissioner (meaning, always, the
bureaucrats) will determine whether a particular network of physicians,
hospitals and insurance is acceptable. With private insurance starved,
many people enrolled in the government “option” will have no place else
to go.”
The government will also become involved in “counseling” before and
after the birth of your children to make sure they are raised
properly. The bill says that the government agents, the
"well-trained and competent staff," will "provide parents with
knowledge of age-appropriate child development in cognitive language,
social, emotional and motor domains … modeling, consulting, and
coaching on parenting practices, skills to interact with their child to
enhance age-appropriate development."
Section
440 and Section 1904 of the House bill (page 838) under the
heading: "Home visitation programs for families with young children and
families expecting children," which would provide (via grants to
states) for home visitation programs to educate parents on child
behavior and parenting skills.
Become educated on what is in the HR 3200 Bill
and not what Congressional members, newscasters, pundits, or even
President Obama claims is or is not in the Bill. Information is power.
Most protesters have read the Bill and as the information becomes more
widely known the more Americans will resist socialized Obamacare.
