Now that Thanksgiving is over all the attention turns towards Christmas. Yes, Christmas, not the happy holidays or seasons greetings and most certainly not merry x-mas. It is Christmas and it is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Ooops, there we go again mentioning something far more hated than Christmas, the name of Jesus Christ.
Many in Edgefield County think we are insulated from the political correct lunacy that has taken over the “mainstream” media and the sue happy ACLU. Think again.
The Edgefield County School District puts out a handy Information guide and, of course, it lists Christmas break as “Winter Break”. Do not take our word for it, look for yourself. Of course the school board was the first to crawl at the alter of the ACLU when they removed prayer before football games in fear of being sued. Not that they were sued, just from fear itself. There is a famous quote about fearing fear itself. The school board’s position seems to be on the wimpy side of that quote.
Look closely as you traverse the county and local towns. Do you see the manger scenes you saw as children growing up or just politically correct Santa’s and “holiday” trees?
Erasing Christ from Christmas does not happen overnight, it takes very slow steps until Christians become neutered and actually buy into believing that Christ should be removed from Christmas and the attention should be on spending more than you have for things you do not even need just for bragging rights.
Of course you cannot be surprised Christians have fallen for the re-education of the masses. In Britain one in thirty three preachers do not even believe in God. A trend that has come to America and the creation of new “churches” started by Hollywood stars used to grow their wealth while taking advantage of tax breaks for legitimate churches brings in more gullible souls.
Take this time to stop and think about Christmas as you remember it as a child. What you saw, what you heard, and what you felt during this time of year. Ignore the media and the politically correct naysayers. Enjoy, no, celebrate Christmas as it should be.
May all have a very Merry Christmas and may God bless everyone.
