Mayor tells driver's "Speeders beware!" web posted May 25, 2007 EDGEFIELD – The following message does not apply to everyone who drives through Edgefield so if you are one who consistently tries to obey the posted speed limit signs, please disregard the following. I have had many complaints and have personally witnessed drivers dangerously disregarding posted speed limit signs throughout the town, especially on secondary streets. These limits are there to protect not only the driver but also the families living in the neighborhoods. I just want to forewarn everyone that I have instructed the police chief to have his department do their best to stop these violations. The intention is not to create “speed traps” but to try and make more drivers aware of their driving habits and keep our streets and neighborhoods safe. Thank you for helping me to make Edgefield the best place in America to live! Ken Durham Mayor Edgefield, SC For
