Narcotics Investigators, Deputies converge on Fox Creek High School

web posted March 15, 2006

MERRIWETHER – Shortly after Noon on Tuesday, Edgefield County Sheriff’s Deputies and Narcotics Investigators were summoned to Fox Creek Charter High School due to a report of drugs. The school was placed on lock down and by 1:40 pm the parking lot was filled with Patrol cars and the K9 Unit.

Early information obtained said at least one 17-year-old student was in possession of a controlled substance. The nature of the drug the student had was not disclosed. Narcotics Investigators used the drug dog to do a sweep of the school. Investigators did not say if additional drugs were found in the search.

After clearing the school, Deputies received yet another call to Fox Creek with a report of a fight in progress. Deputies returned to the school at approximately 3:15 pm. Full reports on both episodes will not be available until Wednesday. A follow-up will be online Thursday.
