![]() Paid for by the Candidate Fox Creek continues downward spiral; teachers, students make departure known web posted Apri 22, 2006 MERRIWETHER – Fox Creek Charter High School is in the news yet again, this time over the wholesale departure of some of the top teachers made known and parents pulling their children from the school at the end of this year saying the school cannot survive the mishandling of the School Board’s claimed continued irrational decisions and policies. One school board member told WJBF Channel 6 in a report on WJBF’s First at Five report that four teachers have confirmed their departure at the end of the year. As many as one third to one half of the teachers have also implied they plan to leave as a direct result of the media reports about Fox Creek and the School Board’s actions of late. EdgefieldDaily.com talked to several parents who said they have “had it” with the school. Parents are said to be leading the way out the door saying they do not intend the have their students return, and some said they might even pull their students before the year ends. "I can't trust anything the School Board says," one parent told EdgefieldDaily.com not wanting to be named. "It's really a shame, we had such high hopes and worked so hard," to make the school a reality. The parents we spoke with all said they are taking their children out for one reason, they believe the school will not be open next year and even if opened, it will not have the caliber of instructors the school promised. The reply from the sitting Fox Creek School Board members? “No comment”. EdgefieldDaily.com made several calls to board members who refused to answer their phones, even when we blocked out our numbers. It seems the secretive actions and unaccountability of the present and long-standing majority of board members is not sitting well with a majority of parents, and even former School Board members. Edgefield County School Board Members refuse to comment on the situation with the caveat that there is no need to take a position since Fox Creek is quickly “self-destructing”. For
