Bi-weekly gas survey, Prices average $2.01 for county

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted December 9, 2005

COUNTY –  Area gas prices rose this week as the average price of gas climbed four cents from an average of $1.97 a gallon last report to $2.01 across the county. Prices varied as much as twelve cents between retailers. Prices are said to be going to be dropping to a price range of the $1.70's as supply continues to exceed the current demand and oil prices continue to fall. In a recent speech in Singapore, John Browne, the chief executive of BP, spoke of a possible sharp drop in prices and called current levels "unsustainably high." John Hofmeister, head of Shell Oil in the United States, said, "This high price cycle is artificially inflated," in the same Dec 5 New York Times report. Locally the S&S Truck Stop in Merriwether took the award again for the lowest reported price at $1.97 and Billy’s Superstore in Trenton remained the highest price at $2.09. Below is the report of all 17 reporting stations.
