4th Annual Gospel Explosion to be held in Bettis Academy

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted June 3, 2005

The 4th annual Gospel Explosion will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2005 in a small field at the intersection of Highway 25 and Bettis Academy Road. Saundra Curry, the event’s founder and coordinator said this year’s event will be the biggest so far with entertainment provided by the Melodic Voices of Aiken, The McKie Family, Mama and the whiners, James "Bo" Gardner and many more.

“Last year we had a little over a hundred in attendance,” Curry said and this year she has mailed out invitations to local churches asking for more involvement of the communities, “I am doing this to bring unity to all of God’s people,” she said, “It’s great to bring people together outside and praise the Lord without the walls.” Ms. Curry said the events begin at 11:00 am and continue throughout the day.

A fund raiser is being held on June 11, 2005 in which Ms. Curry said they are selling dinners and will deliver them beginning at noon. The costs of the dinners are $6.00 each and orders can be placed up until the day of June 11. “We are going to be serving riblets, Brunswick stew and rice, garden peas, rolls, and a desert,” she said. Donations are also welcomed. Orders can be placed by calling 803-221-5697 and also to obtain more information on the Gospel Explosion.
