Greener Days Hydroseeding

Fast, Friendly,
Professional Service
What is
Hydroseeding?
Hydroseeding is a process where seed, water, specially designed
fertilizer, tackifier (glue) and wood and paper fiber mulch are mixed
together and applied over the ground at an even rate of application. In
one application, the ground is seeded, fertilized and watered.
How long does the process take?
We can cover if all conditions are right about 6,000-16,000 square feet
an hour. The rate of application depends on the amount of water we have
on site to mix the slurry and apply the slurry.
What type of
seed do we use?
We have access to any type of seed you are interested in. The most
common seed type used in this area by homeowners is Bermuda and
Centipede with Zoysia gaining in popularity. In the northern
areas of the CSRA we can plant Fescue grasses, but most of our area can
support only the warm season grasses that are commonly grown in our
area. For slopes, low maintenance areas, naturalized areas, and
erosion problem areas we can use Low Maintenance Mix, which is a
mixture of Brown Top Millet and Bermuda grasses. Greener Days enjoys
establishing wildflower gardens as well. We use only the highest
quality certified seed blends available to ensure your lawn fills in
thick and healthy.
What does it
cost?
Hydroseeding is about a fourth of the cost of sod. Both require
preparation and after care. With hydroseeding you have no labor or
labor cost of laying it. One other benefit of hydroseeding over sod is
that roots from the newly applied seed form directly in the original
soil unlike sod where the roots must work their way into the underlying
soil. This basically means that you can put a heavy riding mower
on a hydroseeded yard after a couple of months instead of the 4-6
months recommended for sod.
How long before
the lawn looks good?
Depending on weather conditions, seed planted and watering, germination
begins in 7 to 35 days. The first mowing can be as early as 4 weeks and
up to 8 weeks after the application; again, depending on weather
conditions. In the end it provides a thicker, healthier, and more
durable grass.
Preparation:
No matter what method is used: hydroseeding, drill seeding, or sodding;
the soil or seedbed must be properly prepared if the seed or sod is to
become well established. The contractor, landscaper, or homeowner can
do the preparation of the area. With hydroseeding soil
preparation is a minimum; the soil surface just needs to be level
enough to mow. Most times the soil is level enough.
Call today and
let Greener Days Hydroseeding give you the lawn you have always wanted.
