Cornerstone celebrating Recovery Month with 5K Fun Run/Walk
web posted August 15, 2012
GREENWOOD – Cornerstone is sponsoring the
4th annual “Steps for Sobriety” 5K Fun Run/Walk in celebration of
National Recovery Month. The 5K will begin at 8am on Saturday,
September 15, 2012 in Uptown Greenwood.
The purpose of Recovery Month is to highlight the benefits of substance
abuse treatment and promote the message that recovery from addiction-
in all its forms- is possible. The proceeds from this 5K will help
Cornerstone continue to provide alcohol, tobacco, and other drug
prevention, intervention and treatment services to children, youth and
adults in Greenwood, Edgefield, McCormick and Abbeville counties.
The 5K will begin at the fountain in Uptown Greenwood, travel along the
Heritage Trail, and return to the fountain. The flat course is a
mixture of asphalt and dirt, and is suitable for runners and walkers of
all skill levels.
The entry fee is $15 for registrations postmarked by September 1st.
After that date, the fee will be $20. Participants can register the day
of the event beginning at 7am. Only persons who have pre-registered
will be guaranteed a race T-shirt. Each participant will receive a
coupon for a free breakfast buffet at Shoney’s following the race.
Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female winners as well
as to the top male and female finishers in each age category.
For more information or to request a registration form, please contact
Teresa Roy at 864-227-1001 or troy@cornerstonecares.org.
Cornerstone provides prevention, intervention, and treatment services
to those affected by alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and problem
gambling. The agency is a registered 501(c) 3 non-profit
organization, and has been accredited by the Commission for
