First Friday festivities highlight Emerald Triangle venues December 4

GREENWOOD – First Friday is now in full
swing for the holidays, and numerous activities are planned for
December’s event. Folks visiting the Uptown Greenwood area on Friday,
December 4, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. will have a variety of
events to enjoy during the evening.
This month’s activities include:
• First Friday Film Series at Greenwood Community
Theatre featuring the movie “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington”. Show
is at 7:00 PM. Tickets at door, general admission. Prices: $5
adult/$3 children.
• "Unpronounced Unrest" an exhibit of paintings by
Ross MacTaggart, Christopher Moore and Carey Glenn Smith at Arts Center
at The Federal Building . An artist reception will be held from
5:30 - 7:30 PM. The exhibits "That's Not a Photograph" and "A
Splash of Color" are also open for viewing.
• "Spotlight Artist," photography by George Ligon on
display at The Museum . An artist reception will be held from
5:30 - 8:00 PM. Also on display are the exhibits on the
second floor; Graves Mountain, First Carolinians and the Annual Juried
Art Show combining the works of three local guilds, free admission.
• Make and take origami Christmas ornaments with
Marsha DuPre at Meridian. The artist studios and shops open till
8:00 PM. Also on display in the gallery is an exhibit of recent
works by studio artists.
• Photography of Gene Ellenberg on display at
Howard’s On Main.
• Black and white photography by Kendall Adams on
display at Uptown Sushi.
• Ring making class at The Two Old Bags and Beaded
Palm from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
Partners in the First Friday event include Uptown Greenwood, Greenwood
Regional Tourism and Visitors Bureau, Arts Council of Greenwood County,
The Greenwood Community Theatre, and The Museum. Flyers including all
of the events as well as a map of the area will be available online at
