Man reports car stolen after walking to store web posted February 22, 2007 COUNTY – A Sweetwater man has earned his Here’s Your Card
recognition
after reporting his car stolen from the J&L Convenience store on
Tuesday afternoon. Edgefield County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched
to the area in an effort to recover the stolen vehicle. The man initially claimed that “Mexicans” had stolen his car while he was in the store. According to reports he went inside the store and made a purchase and left a few minutes later to discover his car was not in the parking lot. He then called to report the auto theft. Minutes before deputies arrived on the scene the man called back to dispatchers to report that he remembered he did not drive to the store and his car was not stolen. He “forgot” he walked to the store and his car was at his nearby home. The man thought that his car was stolen because he had his car keys in his pocket when he left the store. A deputy responded to the location to talk to the man about the event. Because the man is considered a “victim” his name is being withheld. For
