Johnston Home Burglarized While Owner Away for 1 Hour

web posted January 4, 2013

JOHNSTON – A Monks Way man returning home Wednesday morning discovered his house had been burglarized and called police. A Johnston Police Officer arrived just after 8:30 am and cleared the home finding no one inside. The man report two televisions missing, which were later recovered by the officer.

According to an incident report released on Thursday, the man left the home for about an hour and returned to find a back door pried open and the TV's gone. The man told police that he spotted a man he recognized exiting the woods near his home.

After the scene was photographed and processed the officer entered the woods on a path the person was seen exiting. The officer followed the path and located the two TV's covered with a black hoodie. The scene was photographed and the TV's were identified by the homeowner as his.

The TV's were then taken in as evidence and transported to the Johnston Police Department to be processed for fingerprints. The case has been turned over to investigators for further investigation.

The possible suspect was not listed in the incident report.
