![]() Johnston business owner chases suspected burglars web posted January 5, 2007 JOHNSTON – The owner of an automotive business in Johnston discovered an attempted burglary at his business on Lee Street Wednesday night just after 10pm. When the man called police he was in his vehicle chasing the two men from the location and lost them a short distance away. Johnston Police arrived at the business and better descriptions of the two suspects. The owner stated both subjects were black males, one between 5’ 5” and 5’ 7” tall with a black hooded jacket and the other with a similar height wearing a black T-shirt with dreadlocks in his hair. The officer located two men fitting the description at a nearby apartment complex. When the men saw the officer they went to the back of the building. The officer went to speak to the men finding one missing and the second ran and the officer gave chase until the man ran into one of the apartments. The officer had the man step outside and began questioning him in regards to why he ran and the break-in. The man was returned to the business but the witnesses could not positively identify him as one of the two men but stated the clothing he was wearing was a similar. The officer returned the man to the apartment complex after obtaining information and released him. The woman who lived at the apartment where the man was found stated the second man with the dreadlocks was at the apartment when the officer knocked on the door. He then fled out the back door. The crimes scene was processed and police and investigators gathered evidence and photographs inside and outside the building. The case has been turned over to investigators with the Johnston Police Department. For
